This chocolate kiwi popsicle recipe is a combination of taste and health. A slice of kiwifruit dipped in a thin and crispy coating of chocolate and coconut oil makes it an amazing dessert!
Peeled kiwi slices dress up these “popsicles” with a striking geometric silhouette and a cheerful color contrast between the darker outside and the lime-green interior. Inside the brittle chocolate shell, the sweet-tart fruit slices are juicy and naturally delicious, with no added sugar required!
These mini-popsicles aren’t just a creative treat; they’re even pretty good for you. Kiwis are particularly high in Vitamin C, with smaller amounts of Vitamin K and a few other nutrients. And if you’re using good-quality dark chocolate (preferably 85% or above), the chocolate itself is quite low in sugar and high in antioxidants, iron, magnesium, copper, and manganese, as well as the healthy saturated fat from cocoa butter. Of course, nothing made with chocolate is an everyday food, but as far as treats go, dark chocolate is far from the worst you could be eating.
To make the handles for these popsicles, you can use either popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks: the tops are small enough that even the lollipop-sized versions won’t break.
- 6 large kiwis, peeled
- 1 cup dark chocolate (about 200 g)
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
